Here are a few of my tips to survive the allergy season:
1. Utilize this homemade solution recommended to me in the 1990’s by an ear, nose and throat doctor. Mix together in a quart container: 1 quart of distilled water, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1.5-2 teaspoons of kosher salt. Place 1 cup of this solution in a bulb syringe (Walmart sells them for about $2). Lean over a sink and squeeze the bulb to blast the solution into one nostril at a time while holding your mouth open saying, “Ahhh.” This will help to wash pollen and other airborne particles out of your nasal passages. Store the quart container of solution in the refrigerator for up to one week.
2. Keep your hair covered, or wear a hat while outside.
3. Take off your hat, shoes, and outerwear before entering your home.
4. Wash your face and eyeglasses (if you wear them) when you come back inside.
Keep allergens from taking up residence inside your living space!
