Hello!
Welcome to my website. My name is Patricia Akey; I am affectionately also known as, “The Blue-Masked Woman” due to my severe allergies.
My sincerest hope is that you will find comfort in knowing you are not alone in this world if you are like me…over 50 years old, fat, and frumpy. I am proud to say I’m a Jesus freak, a menopause survivor, a caregiver of an aging parent, a gardener, a lover of wildlife, and a newbie to social media. I have been employed for 24 years as a Public Servant with only six years to go until retirement.
This website was conceived to document and share my own journey back to health and well-being. I am now 53 years old and 80 pounds overweight. I know better than to eat fast food and sugar, but I do it anyway. I shovel food down when I’m stressed out. This past year has been the worst. My dad died January 26, 2015 then my brother (my only sibling) died of brain cancer only ten days later. I have repeatedly lost weight, gained weight, lost weight, and gained weight (much more gaining these days). The frumpy clothes in my closet range in sizes from 8-20. You get the idea.
I am convinced my purpose on this Earth is to help others. I choose to positively touch at least one person’s life each day. I want to inspire and motivate others to become the best version of who God created them to be. My personal goal is to become my best version of who God wants me to be: Fit2honorHim.
Side note: If you find the content valuable then please thank Gordon, Debbie, and Connie. I started attending Pasco-Hernando Community College back in the early 1980’s after the “Gordon Rule” (State Rule 6A-10.30)* was born. Debbie Amburgey was my instructor for the English coursework college level writing classes, and Connie Frankel was my instructor for Humanities. Gordon ensured lengthy required writing assignments that resulted in fueling a hidden passion, and my love for writing was born.
*The “Gordon Rule” (State Rule 6A-10.30) applies to students who first enrolled in any college or university after October 1982.
